Associate Pastor

Westview Baptist Church

Westview Baptist Church in the beautiful coastal community of Powell River, B.C., is seeking a full-time associate pastor to focus on our family ministries. We are a multigenerational church of approximately 200 in attendance. We are passionate about teaching God’s Word and following the Great Commission to share the love of Christ.

Job Description

Reporting to the Lead Pastor and working closely with the Christian Education Committee, the associate pastor will be charged with envisioning, developing, and leading programs that nurture the spiritual growth and relational health of families within the church. This position serves as a relationship builder, educator, and resource to parents, youth and children, fostering a vibrant, Christ-centered community supporting families.

Key Responsibilities

·      Design, implement, and run an engaging weekly youth program, as well as, mentoring teens and providing guidance on issues such as peer pressure, identity, and faith.

·      Assist our Christian Education Committee in administration, recruiting, screening, training, and encouraging our team of volunteers.

·      Provide spiritual counsel, prayer, and support for families facing life’s challenges, celebrating milestones, and navigating transitions.

·      Prepare and deliver biblically grounded lessons, sermons, and workshops for children, youth, parents, and families.

·      Lead and organize the church’s small group ministry by supporting small group leaders and fostering spiritual and interpersonal growth.

·      Assist the lead pastor in the many pastoral and administrative duties as directed.

Qualifications and Skills

·      Deep personal commitment to Christ and evidence of spiritual maturity.

·      Church ministry experience, preferably in family, children, or youth ministries.

·      Bachelor’s degree in theology, pastoral ministry or related field.

·      Warm, approachable, and skilled at building trust with families, children, teens, and adults.

·      Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to engage audiences of all ages.

·      Comfortable using computer software, presentation tools, social media, and online resources relevant to ministry.

·      Genuine desire to empower others, nurture volunteer teams, and serve behind the scenes with humility.

Remuneration

This is a full-time position with a salary between $45-55,000 (dependent on education and experience). A benefits package is included.
